“Every child should be provided with the opportunity to discover his/her strengths and interests, in multiple domains. The vision for Hackberry is to help children be well-rounded individuals who get to experience our unique educational programs.”
Anisha is a serial entrepreneur who enjoys the challenge and excitement of building different businesses. Her love for coding and technology, coupled with an interest in the education industry transpired the beginning of Hackberry – an enterprise that brings unique educational programs for children. “In a rapidly changing, unpredictable world, the role of education is to prepare our kids for a future we can’t even imagine! We believe kids need to be equipped with imagination, creativity, problem-solving skills, curiosity, and adaptability to succeed. At Hackberry, we are committed to doing just that!”
When looking for an early-years coding program to enrol her 7-year-old daughter in, Ashni realised that while coding is taught widely at a young age across the globe, such programs weren’t available in India. In a few short months, she and her co-founder Anisha had created a program, piloted it with a group of kids, and launched Hackberry’s first coding program. Fuelled by its success, Hackberry quickly expanded to offer courses in computational thinking and entrepreneurship. She, along with the Hackberry team, is dedicated to developing fun educational programs to impart these skills. Ashni, an erstwhile Investment Banker, is a mom to a curious 7-year-old and an energetic 4-year-old and loves to spend time with them.
“Nothing could be more fun for kids than learning about this enormous world and discovering the different ways in which this world functions without actually realising that they are learning.”
This is exactly what drove Duja Zaveri, a former equity investment professional, mother to a naughty 7-year-old and a professional storyteller to join our team of passionate educators, who are always looking at enhancing the lives of kids with holistic learning. It was a natural fit for her at Hackberry to handle operations, helping each child rise to his or her potential with the right learning programs.
“My passion and love for teaching developed after I had my daughter. I would sit with her for hours reading, building Lego towers & teaching her things through play.”
After a long career in jewellery design and gemmology, Tanya decided to chase her passion for teaching. Having witnessed kids learn using computers and iPads in the right way, she strongly believes in the right use of technology in education. Being a part of the Hackberry team has made her realise that the best feeling in the world is when you see the joy on a child's face when they figure out how to create a program and decipher codes. This constantly motivates her to become an even better facilitator of joy and learning.
“Technology is the future. It’s always better to expose kids to technology the right way. Coding is not only a constructive use of technology but also stimulates logical thinking in children.”
The pleasure of teaching her own children sparked Mitika’s career as a Hackberry teacher. While teaching coding to kids, it is their enthusiasm to learn and their constant inquisitiveness that inspires her to innovate and enhance her teaching skills. Along with designing stationery products, Mitika also enjoys spending quality time having insightful conversations over board games with her kids.
“Coding helps kids visualise abstract concepts, lets them apply math to real-world situations. Learning to code is the same as learning a new language skill and coding is one of the fastest growing occupations.”
After switching cities and a 4-year break from teaching, Anvi finally decided to get back to teaching with Hackberry. She looks forward to giving the kids a platform where they can express their thoughts and create a program. Teaching gives her immense pleasure and she finds that the kids are extremely curious and so aware of the tech-world that as a teacher, she ends up learning from them.
“The journey from being an account manager to a teacher at Hackberry has been an incredible one. Being a full time mother made me realise how much I love spending time with kids. It’s not about just teaching them, but also learning from them. ”
